Ginny Wing

I have been drawing and painting all my life. I was born in a small mining town in the Cascade Mountains of eastern Washington, and lived my childhood in Bisbee and Jerome, Arizona, also Carlsbad and Santa Fe, New Mexico. After I married I lived in rural areas of South Dakota, and Wyoming, later living 20 years in Iowa. That has given me an appreciation for nature and inspired me to be a landscape painter. I helped establish a Gallery in the historic district of Sioux City, Iowa, exhibited there and in several other galleries in the Midwest. Mostly self–taught, I took workshops and classes with Dave West & Jim in Iowa and Albert Handell in Colorado. I prefer to work on my own, experimenting and developing my own style.

I discovered Pastels and began painting with them in the early 90's, when few artists were painting with them. For me it is the perfect medium to capture the colors of vibrant skies, the mountains, the amazing light of the Sonoran Desert. I love to explore and hike the Santa Rita Mountains along with the surrounding desert. I enjoy air painting and often finish the painting in my studio in Green Valley.
